What is 7-OH?

7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH) is a naturally occurring alkaloid found in kratom (Mitragyna speciosa), though only in very small amounts. It is a metabolite of mitragynine and is considerably more potent at certain receptors in the body.

Based on preclinical research and user reports, 7-hydroxymitragynine is associated with strong analgesic effects due to its activity at mu-opioid receptors and is considered many times more potent than morphine by weight. It may produce sedative and relaxing effects and is often reported to help with sleep, severe discomfort, and opioid withdrawal symptoms. Animal studies suggest a different respiratory profile compared to traditional opioids, but it is not risk-free and remains under ongoing scientific investigation.
